How to Add Metadata-Only References to Your Papers Library
The following information and screenshots relate to the latest version of Papers. For instructions on the classic version, please click here.
To add a metadata-only reference to your Papers library, follow the steps below:
- Click the “+” button at the top right of the page.
- Next, select “Create Manual Entry…”
- Enter any relevant metadata.
- Click “Save” and the reference will be added to your Papers library.
In your library, these references will not have the paperclip icon associated with the entry, meaning there is no PDF available for the reference.
To download the PDF for a reference, select the reference in your library, right-click and select “Locate PDF.”
Papers Classic
The following instructions are for the classic version of Papers.
To add a metadata-only reference to your Papers library, follow the steps below:
- Click the “+Add” button at the top left of the page.
- Next, select “Create Manual Entry…”
- Enter any relevant metadata.
- Click “Save” and the reference will be added to your Papers library.
In your library, these references will not have the paperclip icon associated with the entry, meaning there is no PDF available for the reference.
To download the PDF for a reference, select the reference in your library, right-click and select “Locate PDF.”
